Basic maintenance requirements

All materials and products require some maintenance, no window is completely maintenance free. All windows will benefit from having the exterior of the frames wiped with a damp cloth 2-3 times a year (dependent on location).

With modern microporous finishes a 5 year recoating cycle is normal (this may vary in some locations).

Maintenance does not just mean washing down or redecoration. Lubrication using a light sewing machine type oil is recommended periodically on all accessible moving parts, on hinges and locking mechanisms.
